#SheLeadsTech is an initiative of ISACA that seeks to increase the representation of women in technology leadership, through networking, mentoring, continuous professional education, and supporting participants to advance their personal goals and development.
The Patron of the OAG Women’s Forum and Assistant Auditor General Audit, Mrs. Keto Nyapendi Kayemba, was selected as the Patron of ISACA Kampala Chapter’s #SheLeadsTech initiative, at the inaugural event on 8th November 2018, at Kampala Serena Hotel. Through her leadership the #SheLeadsTech initiative aims to empower women as leaders, role models and mentors in their various professional fields.
At the annual ISACA East Africa Information Security Conference, held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo from 14th – 16th August 2019, the Patron of the #SheLeadsTech initiative was represented by the former chairperson of the OAG Women’s Forum, Mrs. Alice Kembabzi Amumpaire, Audit Manager CG2. Kembabazi was part of a panel that included; Ms. Vivian Ddambya, Director Technical Services NITA-U, Ms. Emma Mugisha, Head of Corporate & Investment Banking, Stanbic Bank Uganda, and Ms. Olive Gloria Babakunda, BCP & Resilience Consultant. The panel highlighted some of the challenges that women face in the male-dominated workplace and how to overcome them. In line with the Conference theme of ‘evolving digital disruption’, the panel also offered insights that women should explore to become good leaders.
In her remarks at the Conference, Kembabazi noted that women should stop procrastinating and aspire to great leadership positions in the workplace, because they have earned it. She encouraged women to always be passionate about their jobs; not to be afraid to seek for help and mentorship; and undertake continuous professional learning.
